Congrats to ENSURED's Stephanie Hofmann, 2025 J. Ann Tickner Award winner!

We are pleased to share that ENSURED researcher Stephanie Hofmann has won the International Studies Association (ISA)'s 2025 J. Ann Tickner Award!

Named after International Relations and gender theorist J. Ann Tickner, this award celebrates ISA researchers who combine a deep commitment to teaching and mentoring with academic excellence and a desire to push the boundaries of the discipline. The Tickner award was established in 2011 to recognize J. Ann Tickner for her path-breaking role within the Association and in the discipline of International Relations more broadly.

In ENSURED, Stephanie contributes to the work package on intersecting policies, where she focuses on both new challenges that the EU faces and the ways in which it is adapting its multilateral engagement. Outside of the ENSURED project, Stephanie's research revolves around organisational expressions of multilateralism, international and transatlantic security, global ordering, and national preference formation processes. Stephanie holds the Joint Chair in International Relations at the European University Institute in Florence and is Director of the research area ”Europe in the World” at the same institution.

Other notable contributions to the world of IR research include her wide-ranging academic editing, as well as her work on a number of advisory boards on security politics and the selection committee board for the John McCain Dissertation Award (awarded by the Munich Security Conference). Make sure to find out more about Stephanie's background and research.
